ACM Student Chapter · IIT Roorkee

The IIT Roorkee ACM Student Chapter is an official student body incepted in 2014 under the aegis of Department of Computer Science and Engineering, IIT Roorkee. The chapter aims at uniting the computing fraternity at IIT Roorkee under one tag and allowing the students to learn together and share their knowledge to cater the interests of the individuals as well as the institute as a whole.The chapter organizes a number of events including programming contests, talks by renowned speakers, workshops etc.which give the students an exposure to the competitive computing world as well as allow them to understand the advancements going on in the computing sphere worldwide.

Initiatives

Project: Genre Classifier

A music genre classifier which classifies songs based on their audio frequencies. A mini project for making students learn how to implement various Machine Learning Algorithms and gain a clearer insight over various concepts of Machine Learning under "Learning through Projects" series.
Project: Image Super-Resolution

The idea is to improve the resolution of the image by removing pixelation using concepts of Convolutional Neural Networks (Machine Learning). Also, this project is under "Learning through Projects" series.
Project: Music Recommendation System

A Music Recommendation system which suggests/predicts songs on the basis of user song stream history. System uses the meta-data of the audio files as the data. Also, this project is under "Learning through Projects" series.
Project: Linkedin for Campus

A prototype of the well-known website, LinkedIn. The aim of the project is to connect the Alumnis of the institute with the student body of IITR. Also, this project is under "Learning through Projects" series.
Reasearch Paper Discussion Group

The aim is to promote research culture in the institute through discussions on Research Papers on various topics. The most recent topic was Block-chains, of which, Bitcoin is a widely known application.
